Measurement and reporting intent

How do you measure GEO results?

Short answer

Measure GEO on three layers: whether you get mentioned in AI answers on the questions that matter for your market, which sources the AI cites alongside you, and what happens next on your site (visits, requests, conversations).

Layer 1: are you mentioned

Pick five to ten questions that are typical for your market and test them weekly in two or three AI assistants. Log per test: date, model, question, whether your brand was mentioned and in what context.

This is not a ranking chart like classic SEO. It is an observation log that reveals trends: more mentions after a publication, disappearing after a model update, a competitor rising.

Layer 2: which sources the AI cites

Check which URLs the AI cites next to an answer. Are your pages among them, or only comparison sites and competitors. Every page of yours that gets cited is a hint that its combination of question, evidence, and structure is working.

Collect these URLs in your workspace so you can spot patterns: which type of page (explainer, comparison, case) gets cited most often.

Layer 3: what happens on your site

Plug into what you already measure: visits per page, requests, demos, quote requests. Look at the pages you built specifically for GEO and track whether direct or referral visits from AI tools grow.

In sales and support conversations, explicitly ask 'how did you hear about us'. Answers like 'ChatGPT mentioned you' are qualitative evidence that complements the dashboards.
